We’re looking for a compassionate, dedicated, and proactive Disability Support Worker to join our passionate team, providing psychosocial support to people living with psychosocial disability and/or complex needs.

About the Role:

As a Disability Support Worker for people living with psychosocial disability, you will:

  • Provide individualised care to NDIS participants with complex psychosocial and behavioral support needs, assisting them to live independently in their own homes and communities.
  • Work in a Supported Independent Living (SIL) environment, where you’ll create a supportive atmosphere that encourages personal growth and promotes independence.
  • Provide assistance in daily living, including domestic tasks, personal care, medication monitoring, social support, and transportation.
  • Build strong, professional relationships with participants, ensuring their dignity and safety are maintained while fostering a sense of trust and respect.
  • Monitor participants’ well-being, observing any changes in behavior or health and reporting these promptly to your supervisor.
  • Collaborate with a supportive team of professionals, contributing to the ongoing development of services and ensuring high standards of care.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Domestic Assistance: Support participants with daily tasks to maintain a clean and safe living environment.
  • Personal Care: Assist with personal hygiene, grooming, and other personal care needs.
  • Social Support: Provide a safe space for participants to relax, engage socially, and participate in community activities.
  • Medication Monitoring: Ensure participants are supported with medication management and adherence to prescribed regimens.
  • Transportation: Support participants with travel to appointments, social activities, and community events.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in supporting individuals with living with a psychosocial disability, mental health, behavioral, or complex needs is highly desirable.
  • A genuine passion for improving the lives of people living with psychosocial disabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with participants, their families, and other professionals.
  • A person-centered approach to care, ensuring each participant’s needs, preferences, and goals are at the heart of everything you do.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain professional boundaries while building rapport and trust with participants.
  • Current Driver’s License and reliable, insured vehicle for transporting participants.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a team-focused approach.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices and manual handling techniques.

CARE SUPPORT NURSING SUPERVISOR

Position: Part-time (3-4 days)

Location: Hybrid (head office and remote)

We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Care Support Nursing Supervisor to join our team.

This unique hybrid position combines clinical nursing responsibilities with staff supervision and care coordination. You will be essential in delivering hands-on care, supporting and developing our care team, and ensuring compliance with NDIS standards and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

· Clinical Care & Participant Support: Deliver specialized nursing care for participants with high needs, including assessments, medication administration, and care plan adjustments.

· Staff Supervision & Training: Lead training for new and existing staff, provide mentorship, and conduct ongoing evaluations to maintain high-quality service.

· Care Coordination: Oversee documentation, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team for effective care delivery.

· Policy Development & Compliance: Assist in the develop and review of policies, maintain up-to-date participant files, and ensure adherence to NDIS standards.

· Customer Satisfaction & Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong relationships with participants and families, addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction with services.

 

About You:

· Qualifications: Registered Nurse with full registration (AHPRA) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related field.

· Experience: Previous experience in nursing, particularly in the disability or community sector, with a strong understanding of NDIS requirements.

· Skills: Excellent interpersonal, strong organizational abilities, and the capacity to mentor and support a diverse team.

· Compliance: Registered Nurse, Current First Aid, CPR, and Asthma/Anaphylaxis certificates, WWCC, NDIS Workers Check, and a valid driver’s license.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide culturally appropriate direct support to service users in the following Key Responsibility Areas:

  • Domestic Assistance
  • Personal Care
  • Respite Care
  • Social support
  • Transport
  • Medication monitoring
  • Establish appropriate and effective working relationships with service users, maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Provide quality service at all times by responding to individual needs and requirements with flexibility and safety.
  • Assist the service user in maintaining and enhancing practical skills in order to promote their level of independence.
  • Complete and maintain documentation in accordance with organisational policies and procedures, and quality standards requirements and contribute to continuous improvement within the agency.
  • Observe and report any changes in the service user’s health, behaviour, needs or circumstances to the Supervisor immediately, either by telephone or in person.
  • Be a courteous representative of The SIL Company in all undertakings with service users, their carers and in the community during the hours of employment and ensure a positive public image is maintained throughout the community.

Competencies and experience required

  • Demonstrate past experience in working with people with disability and/or aged and their carers.
  • Demonstrate experience and performance in the key responsibility areas.
  • Must familiarise yourself with agency information management systems and policies and procedures which will change from time to time.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate sensitively and appropriately with and understand the needs of people with disability from a diverse range of socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently and report accurately to supervisor.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the demonstrated ability to communicate with service users and their carers, staff and range of service providers.
  • Must be capable in providing quality services that assists people to maintain their independence, dignity, cultural values and religious beliefs.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a diverse range of settings including but not limited to, a person’s home and other community settings.
  • Current driver licence
  • Reliable motor vehicle (including valid registration and full comprehensive third-party insurance).
  • Second language skills will be highly regarded.
  • An understanding of safe work practices, proven experience in the use of appropriate manual handling techniques.
